Treat Yo Self

So ok... I know we were supposed to talk about eye things but then over the weekend I did a thing.
I bought the Burberry Lip Velvet Lipstick in Oxblood because I can't help myself and because it's a beautiful, perfect, autumnal red.

This is not my first foray into luxury lip products but it has been a long time since I was inspired to spend more than 30$ on lipstick.
In fact I haven't bought much makeup the last few months anyway but when I found myself with a little extra cash to spare I went right for the lipstick display.

Oxblood is the color they used in their most recent runway show and has since been dubbed the brand's "signature color".

Crystal All the Things

I have been majorly jewelry obsessing over here this Summer. Ever since I started shopping to go on vacation I've been preoccupied with updating my wardrobe and investing in some nicer pieces to add to the line up.

No while the clothing arena is a little slow going right nowI've definitely developed a definitive preference when it comes to my personal decoration.

All the crystals and ALL the good vibes.

No Such Thing as Signature

I don't like to plunk for new fragrances too too often, I find that it's one of the few beauty arenas (along with mascara and face powder) that I ever really finish in a timely way.

As I've gotten a little older my tastes seemed to have changed pretty drastically.

My desire for variety has not.

The new baby is Bella Freud's Ginsberg is God.

It's Cheaper At Home

I went all the way to London, trolled the Charlotte Tilbury counter at Selfidges and then came home and snapped up one of the newest shades of the Matte Revolution lipstick.

What? It was cheaper at home.

Look Alive

Organic and "all natural" makeup is a tricky thing. With brands constantly on the hunt to find ways of selling customers a more green angle it's hard to know what brands that claim to be organic are legit.

RMS Beauty has long been regarded as one of the forerunners in organic and green beauty products. While this isn't necessarily a huge concern for me when it comes to beauty (I'm an equal opportunity hoarder) when you hear enough about any given product it's hard not to cave and give it a try.

So when a little coupon code incentive surfaced for DermStore last week I went ahead and finally picked up the RMS Living Luminizer

The Warm Weather Dark Lip Obsession

I'm not sure what it is this year. Normally I am SO on board with spring this-summer that but this year it seems the only shades that have graced my lips have been in the blood red and burgundy families.

Admittedly I'm having a bit of a baby goth girl moment as my Instagram can certainly attest to.
I think there is something about a more generous makeup application that feels fun for me right now.

I have mentioned a fair few of these babies before but as they have barely left my lips in nearly a month I think it's high time they got another shout out.

Come Correct

As a makeup junkie with hereditary dark under-eye circles and years of concealers and correctors under my belt it gets very hard to find things that do anything new for you.

On my "to buy" list for this year's Spring VIB sale was a product I had heard so much about but just could not commit to the insane price tag.

It is so worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Giorgio Armani Master Corrector.

Impulse Purchasing 101

If there was going to be a blog post on how not to shop responsibly this would be a good place to start.

Do you know when you see a product and you go...eh, it's ok, and then you look at the name and everything changes.

Well when I saw the name on one of Marc Jacobs Beauty's newest Le Marc Lip Creme's I knew I had to have it. Even if it is a member of the color family that I admit I almost never wear

The Mask Trifecta

I love a good face mask.
I've said it before and I'll say it again I think a mask is the fastest way to impact your skin.
Not all of them work the miracles they claim to but very often they provide a fresh layer of softness and an often welcome clarifying or exfoliating effect.

This little Mini Mask Magic Kit from Peter Thomas Roth popped up around VIB sale time and I assumed it was a holiday offering but it was still available (and is still on the website but out of stock as of this post.) when I went to make my post purge purchases so I snapped one up.

For a cool $20 you can try three of the brand's mask offerings in one go.

The Repurchase| Bobbi Brown Corrector

It has been a hot second since I've shared something I've repurchased. I don't repeat buy all that often, largely because I don't finish things all too often but also because I tend to be a bit slutty with my makeup.
I'm all about trying on different products "for size".
This purchase was also largely un-premeditaed. I like to plan out what I'm picking up, financially speaking, and one night when roaming Sephora I spotted this in the Bobbi Brown display, picked it up and made a beeline for the register without hesitation or second thoughts.
I had suffered through enough dark circles for one winter and it was time to sort them out.

Under Eyes Like A Pro

My under eye circles are a constant state of consternation for me. I love embracing my natural beauty and all that jazz but I would also really love to look like I slept for more than 3 hours a night.

My dark circles are hereditary so regardless of how well I sleep they just are. They're not going anywhere anytime soon.

Over the years I've tried many a solution and recently I've come across a couple more products that are making the task just that little bit more easy.

The New Nudes

There is always something so welcoming about discovering a new everyday shade that sings on your skin. One of those colors you can just reach for without thinking about or having to worry if it matches the rest of your makeup.
I'm not sure what it is but I don't seek out colors like this too often. It may be because I am more inclined toward a bold lip and because I don't always give myself the time needed to do my eyes "properly" in the morning. (As I sit here makeup free at my desk.)

At any rate, this past weekend I plunked down for two new nudes that came highly recommended from two very reliable sources and I could not be happier with them.

A Fan-fucking-tastic Mascara (But It's Not Better Than Sex)

...Ok so the name of this mascara is such a huge load of marketing crap that I just cannot get behind. Which is really something coming from me. I am the definition of a marketing department's wet dream.

I'm all about cheeky names from the beauty industry (no matter how inappropriate I can get behind NARS 100%) but this is just kind of lame.

It's one of the reasons why I put off trying this mascara for such a long time. Despite the fact that it got positive reviews from the beauty community and rave reviews from my friends I just don't think the whole "sex sells" thing works here.

No mascara is better than sex.

It does happen to be one really excellent mascara though.

Head to Head:Cleansing Water

Nothing has made a bigger splash within the community than the onslaught of the cleansing water over the last few years.
Not only did people get excited when it was first mentioned but the obsession has had legs.
With feature's like Into the Gloss' Top Shelf and various other "what's in your bathroom" kind of interviews being commonplace these days its hard for a week to go by without someone mentioning their micellar water of choice.

There is definitely a front runner, Bioderma Crealine H2O has been the be all end all of models and makeup artists for years but about a year ago myself I cam across something more accessible and just as effective.

....So now that Bioderma is available (and relatively affordable) here in the states how does one measure up to the other?

Find out after the jump.

The Spring Series| Lips

Despite what seems to be another late winter "polar vortex" I am so ready to start breaking out some of my favorite spring shades.
I don't like to complain, because I do genuinely enjoy the winter months but, I'm at my wits end at this point. It's cold and grey and it snows just enough so that you can't stay home but your journey into work is a nightmare so yes, I'm done with winter.

So continued from last week I'm going to give you the rundown of all the lippies I'm busting out to get me through the last of the coldest days.

February Haul:The Post No Buy|TheUnanimousMolly

Today I'm excited to finally share all of the goodies I've picked up over the month of February. I've mentioned in a few posts (too many?) that I was nixing the beauty spending in the month of January and barring a single infraction it was a pretty wild success.

So as a reward I went ahead and treated myself to a few things. Better yet? I didn't break the bank in my excitement to spend again.

YAY!
Check out behind the cut to see all of the things I picked up this month.

The Repurchases| Nuxe Reve De Miel

It has been quite some time since I've featured a repurchased item on the blog.

Probably because I'm a little slutty when it comes to my products and because when you do find yourself finishing things you realize that it actually takes a long time to do.

The Nuxe Reve De Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm is a prime example of this. The pot that I just finished is the one I started nearly 18 months ago.

Balk all you want at a 19$ lip treatment but I bet you dollars to donuts you've spent twice that much on cherry Chapstick in the last year and a half.

Cream Contour

2014 was the year I really started experimenting with contouring my face. I learned pretty quickly that cream products were my friend in this arena.

While any contour can get out of hand without careful application I think cream products just blend out better and give you a little more freedom to fix your mistakes.

Since my go-to cream contour is no longer available in the states (why Illamasqua?! Why?!) and because I wanted free shipping on my last SpaceNK order I picked up the Kevin Aucoin Candleight and Sculpting Creamy Glow Duo. I have one of the Creamy Glow blush shades (Tansoleil?) and it is a fantastic cream formula but, does it measure up to Illamasqua's Cream Pigment in Hollow?

The Every-look Blush

I may have accidentally bought myself a Chanel blush this holiday season. I say accidentally because it wasn't initially for me.
I knew I wanted a Chanel blush for my mom's stocking and really wanted to give her the cream blush formula but, when I went to Bloomingdales to find it for her they were out of the color I really wanted for her. A little disappointed and thinking I wouldn't have anymore time before the Christmas to shop I picked up the next best thing:the powder blush in the shade #68 Rose Ecrin.

Ultimately I did find the cream color I wanted for her and since my receipt for this was already gone I found myself with an new very expensive blush.

One of their bestselling shades according to the very aggressive pre-Christmas sales associate but true or not it is a welcome addition to my cheek round up.

Keeping Warm in Style

I am a bath girl from way back. Not on the regular or to get clean particularly but, when it comes to taking time out to turn off having a bath is top of my list.

As an avid Lush fan and one time employee I have run the bathbombbubblemelt trend into the ground so; as I get more mature maybe bath-time should too?

I have been after some grown up bath-time luxury in the form of the Aromatherapy Associates Bath and Shower oils since they took over every YouTube holiday gift guide video three years ago. They promise insanely concentrated scent, deep hydration and, obviously, aroma therapeutic properties at a premium pricetag.

When I was poking around the Space NK post-holiday sale I found their Bath Jewels gift set for half price and immediately placed them in my cart.
