Obsessed: Nail Art

Lately I have been totally loving all kinds of nail art. I have been on a complete nail polish buying binge. I have determined it is unhealthy. However, to put all of my new polish to work I have been painting my nails with all kinds of fun designs.

First Up: Leopard Print!

Base: OPI Done Out In Deco Spots: Ruby Kisses Jungle Green Splotches:(lol) LASplash Liquid Liner in Black Onyx
This look is so much easier than it looks. (I promise!!!) This lovely chick Gemma, did a quick and easy video on how to use liquid eyeliner to create fool proof leopard print on your digits!

Next: The Reverse French (Ruffian)
White: Wet n' Wild French White Red: Revlon Red Leopard Print: Essie Topless and Barefoot (Base) Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Bronze Ablaze (Spots) LASplash Liquid Liner (Splotches)
Now this look is so hard for me to get just right but I love it all the same. The trick here is to use binder reinforcements at the base of your nail to get the half moon shape clean. Even with this little trick I can never seem to get the shape perfect...don' worry I will be practicing more. (and more and more and more)
Last: The "EEK" manicure a la Sophy Robson
Base: Jessie's Girl Fashion Friday Eye Whites:Wet n' Wild French White Eye Balls: Wet n' Wild Black
This look is so so so easy to do on your own and so much fun. Two little white lines and two dots for eyes and you're ready to roll. The original manicure done by Sophy Robson for the Giles Deacon SS 11 catwalk was with several base colors. Its easier for me personally to do it with one but another benefit to this look is that it is so easy to customize!

I hope you guys are loving this as much as I do.  Let me know if you give it a try :)

NOTD: Zoya Edyta

Natural Light

Flash
Edyta is one of the colors I snatched up from Zoya's last promotion on www.artofbeauty.com . I have to say Zoya has some amazing color choices, and this polish in particular was nearly flawless. Opaque coverage (in only 1 coat!!!) , incredibly complex, and perfect for fall. I wish I could say the customer service had been a little bit better. After I placed my order it went on backorder. The first time I contacted them they said that they could not tell me which color was responsible for the backorder and were not sure when I could expect my shipment. Two and a half weeks later when I contacted them again because my order remained in limbo I got no response. A few day later, after 3 weeks I finally got a shipment email. Once the product actually shipped it arrived in only 2 days.

I understand that during promotions items are bound to sell out and cause delays. I would, however, appreciate a little more customer consideration in terms of delays and backorders.

I'll be sure to show you the other colors I got as I wear them because they are all look really beautiful in the bottles. From now on though I may only be buying my Zoya at Ulta....

Until Next Time Guys...

A Day at the Races (...and the Beach)

As per summer tradition in my house Wednesday I spent a glorious summer day in Saratoga. At this point in my life I have seen almost every racetrack in the United States. While it may not be everyone's thing it is one of my favorite parts of the summer.

It wound up being such a lovely day. Not too hot at all, almost spring-like. I was borderline underdressed for the weather. But the shirt I wore has to be one of my top 10 summer buys.
Top:Forever 21
For a mere $17 this top has such a neat detail. The front is a striped t-shirt material and the back is this just-naked-enough black transparent woven fabric. The racer back cut out is a small, interesting, on trend detail that totally makes this piece stand out.

Shorts: Forever 21 Necklace: Portobello Road
Also, I hennaed my hair. Its subtle and gives my hair a nice faint ginger-y tint. I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Excellent hair adventure for fall :).
Earrings: Forever 21 Lips: Sleek Pout Polish in Perfect Plum
The week was rounded out with a mother daughter trip to Jones Beach. After a mere few hours and with Hurricane Irene beating down the doors we kept the visit short and sweet. A quick stop at Ikea for a cheap new dresser and tea at grandmas meant we were well out of Long Island by dinner time. (The traffic was another story altogether.)

NYC at 70 mph

It's always nice to fit in things like this as the summer comes to an end. Off to nurse my sunburn and wait for the hurricane to blow out to sea (we hope!).

Until Next Time Guys....

Seeing Spots

So I had a spur of the moment job interview yesterday. It was through an acquaintance of my father's from our daily commute from suburban New York to Manhattan. (Around 2 hours each way five days a week...blergh.) Although the scenery this time of year is pretty impressive and will only get better as fall gets closer.
The beautiful view of the Hudson River from Metro North

Now on to what I wore for the interview. I scored this cute black and white polka dot dress at Forever 21 for a mere $14. Such a steal and I have worn it so much since. Its perfect for work and will be a great transition piece for when the weather gets a bit cooler.
Dress: Forever 21 Sweater: Old Navy (ages ago but they do simple solid cardigans every fall)

I can"t wait to rock this number with a black cardigan and colored tights. I was in upstate New York today at the races and the weather was divine. Fall is fast approaching. I am so so excited for tights weather you have no idea.
Eyes: Sleek Storm Palette Cheeks: Sleek Blush in Flushed Lips: MAC's Toxic Tale (LE)

And just for kicks a little shot of the New York Public Library from my walk to Grand Central. It looks so so pretty at night!

Until Next Time Guys!

Birds of A Feather

Today was a typical low key work day. I went to bed before midnight last night, which happens only once in a blue moon, so this morning when I popped out of bed 45 minutes early I was all kinds of motivated to look nice. Except for my hair. My hair is almost always a catastrophe.

Top: Old Navy Shorts: Forever21

Earrings:DIY Belt:Primark

The sheer henley-esque Old Navy Top was such a good buy. I got it on sale in the summer clearance for around $10. I can see this being on huge rotation as the weather begins to change. Also since I'm only allowed to wear black or white, or both to my current job I've been on a mission to expand my black and white wardrobe.

The belt was a souvenir from my recent-ish UK vacation and it is the best 1.50 pounds I've ever spent. It's not the first time you've seen it and it won't be the last.

I have a job interview tomorrow actually and a new dress so look forward to that tomorrow or the next day.

Until Next Time Guys...

Hitting the Ground

So these days it seems like everyone and their mother (and their brother, and their Grandma, and their second cousin twice removed) has a blog.  In an endless attempt to express our creativity and individuality we head to the internet to show everyone our stuff.  So without further hesitation here is what I wore today :).

Top: Lane Bryant (several seasons ago) Skirt: Target Belt: Primark

Necklace: DIY
Bird Skull: Topshop Snake: Street Vendor Tigers Eye: Street Vendor

So there you have it. A simple summer Sunday outfit so I could go the farmers market with my parents. I am seriously a Fall girl and cannot wait for boots, jackets, and tights! Alas a couple more weeks and I'll be complaining that summer is gone and its too cold.

Until next time guys...
