Color Fever

I am no stranger to funky colored hair. I was purple for a second then I was green for a while, then purple again while I was away over the Summer. Safe to say I had become accustomed to seeing myself extra colorfully.
Once I got home from traveling though, I started spending more time out in the sun and surf and there is only so much abuse my hair can handle. So for a while I took a break from the bleach, had a little trim and treated my burnt ends with some extra TLC.
Well...now it's September and I'm officially over my hair color hiatus.

Crazy Hair for the Commitment Phobe

I touched on this briefly when I talked about dying my hair purple a few months back but, I am notoriously opposed to doing anything drastic to my hair. I have a particular aversion to getting it cut but in general it takes me a very, very long time to get on board with hair change.
A million years ago I was using henna and was a quite content redhead for a while and since then I've briefly dabbled in an ombre attempt and a light tint of purple...
...but like anyone the urge to leap into something new struck at a moment of self reflection and change. First the purple happened and now I've just been on this excited roll of picking new colors and playing with the look.**
I've learned some things along the way and after three months of playing with it thought it might be time to share.

Hair Routine Part Deux! Fine, Curly and, Bleached|TheUnanimosMolly

I posted a video talking all about my hair routine almost 2 years ago now on my YouTube channel.
To date it is one of my most viewed videos so I thought since there was so much interest I would film a follow up.
A little about my hair:
It's fine, it curls very very tightly and it's prone to both frizz and fallout. Cute huh?
On top of that I decided about 2 and half months ago to bleach the bottom four or so inches so I could pop in some fun colors. Now what was tricky to begin with needs even more TLC. Since I've finally found a new routine that works for all my hair's new quirks I thought a rundown was in order.

The video is a long one but packed with a lot of info so if you are interested take a peek behind the cut!

Beat the Winter Blues and Dye Your Hair Purple

Guys I did a thing!

A thing I practically never do. A Beauty something that really quite intimidated me for a long loooong time.

I put a crazy pants color in my hair.

Now I realize that this is super popular right now and "everybody's doing it" but, I don't fucking care. I love it and I can't wait to do it again.

Ed Note: DIY Brow Grooming

I have been a long time advocate of do it yourself eyebrow grooming.
I know every time I say this I can see the shock on people's faces.
What?!
Do them yourself?
Yes.
Do them yourself.

With a few simple tools, about twenty minutes and a good magnifying mirror your brows will be back with no appointment and no botched jobs.

October Favorites 2014|TheUnanimousMolly

Happy November!
I hope everyone had an exciting and safe Halloween.
I definitely went for it this year and had SO.MUCH.FUN!
But alas, the best month of the year is now behind us and it's time to brace your buns for the oncoming assault of Holiday themed commercials before you've even had a single forkful of stuffing.
Marketing is fab right?
Soapbox aside I thought I would take a moment to share my monthly favorites including a sneaky peek at one of my Halloween costumes :)

What did you guys love this month?

Complete the Set

Back in March I spoke about a shampoo I had picked up at a fancy imports pharmacy on NYC's Upper East Side called Pasteur Discount. Discount. No. French. Yes! All of your Bioderma and Homeoplasmine dreams come true right in New York.

What I went back for though, in true New Yorker fashion, was a little something Italian who's mate was sitting home in my shower, nearly finished.

Ladies and Gents meet Davines Melu Anti Breakage Lusterous Conditioner.

(Seriously? That'a a 6 word title for a hair conditioner.)

The Third Time's the Charm

I am in love.

Sadly enough this is not in reference another human, or even a small, fluffy, cuddly pet.

I am in love with a shampoo.
Davines Melu Shampoo--Link!
Back in January around my birthday I took a trip to the Upper East Side to visit a little place called Pasteur Pharmacy. Now, if you are a New Yorker who's interested in beauty, specifically of the imported and hard to find variety, Pasteur's is for you.
It is, in grand New York City tradition, a very small, crowded space brimming with hair care, skin care, nail tools, beauty and in the very back an actual pharmacy to fill your prescriptions.

 It's heaven.

On my third or fourth lap around the store I noticed several mismatched displays of Davines hair care products in some very affordable but generous travel friendly sizes. After having heard so much about the brand prior to this encounter I figured it was time to pick something and bring it for a test drive.
In addition to the adorable, unique, and eco friendly packaging the Italian brand is also very ingredient driven. It combines botanicals with science for optimum results and often (but not always-- read your labels!) without some of the harsh chemicals that can be commonplace in hair products.
The Melu range, geared towards breakage prone hair, has made quite a bit of difference for my ravaged (in desperate need of a cut) mane of hair. With spinach as a main ingredient my hair feels soft, hydrated and clean, but not too squeaky clean!
I will 100% being headed back to Pasteur's in the not too distant future to treat myself to some other Davines wears, and maybe even a bottle of Bioderma while I'm at it.
:)
