Organic and "all natural" makeup is a tricky thing. With brands constantly on the hunt to find ways of selling customers a more green angle it's hard to know what brands that claim to be organic are legit.
RMS Beauty has long been regarded as one of the forerunners in organic and green beauty products. While this isn't necessarily a huge concern for me when it comes to beauty (I'm an equal opportunity hoarder) when you hear enough about any given product it's hard not to cave and give it a try.
So when a little coupon code incentive surfaced for DermStore last week I went ahead and finally picked up the RMS Living Luminizer.
The texture and finish of this product are more or less what I expected. It is a very "slippy" cream product. It has a firm but thin and transparent texture that lends itself well to a natural looking highlight on the face.
I really love the look of this on the face. It almost looks like it's not even there but when your face catches it creates a glossy skin-like glow with a subtle white gold flash. I hesitate to even call it a shimmer because it's so "barely there" but there is definitely a highlighted sheen to the skin. It also sits well on the skin and the sheen does not accentuate rough texture or pores.
The only thing I am not in love with about this product is how it applies and to a degree; how it wears. It's not a terribly difficult product to work with but as is often the case with more organically inclined products the texture is a little less blendable than it's more synthetic counterparts and never fully sets on the skin.
It's not a deal breaker for me in terms of using the little pot of au-natural highlight but if you are not dead set on using organic beauty I think you can get an almost identical effect out of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl. The Becca formula blends seamlessly and sets. It's also a better value for money.
All in all when it comes to this and other "Green Beauty" offerings I find that it is a lovely product and definitely worth it if you are passionate about your organic ingredients but, if you are not, there are definitely products out there that will mimic this effect that work better.
