Head to Head:Cleansing Water

Nothing has made a bigger splash within the community than the onslaught of the cleansing water over the last few years.
Not only did people get excited when it was first mentioned but the obsession has had legs.
With feature's like Into the Gloss' Top Shelf and various other "what's in your bathroom" kind of interviews being commonplace these days its hard for a week to go by without someone mentioning their micellar water of choice.

There is definitely a front runner, Bioderma Crealine H2O has been the be all end all of models and makeup artists for years but about a year ago myself I cam across something more accessible and just as effective.

....So now that Bioderma is available (and relatively affordable) here in the states how does one measure up to the other?

Find out after the jump.

So I've mentioned before how I thought The Body Shop's Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover was a solid and easily available dupe to the infamous Bioderma Crealine H2O cleansing water

What they have in common?
They are both a colorless and odorless water-like liquid. They both claim to remove makeup cleanly with no residue and they both claim to be non-irritating and gentle. I also use both of them the same way. I generously soak a cotton pad, place it over my eye makeup, allow the product to sit for a few seconds and then gently massaging the makeup away in circular motions.

Price wise they are similar but the value will depend on coupon codes, free shipping and gift with purchase offers depending on where and when you buy. The Body Shop retails for $15.50 (full price) for 250ml of product and the Bioderma goes for $23.95 for 500ml.  So not considering any sort of promotions the Bioderma is actual cheaper per ml. On the other hand, if the Body Shop is running a sale you will likely be able to get the Camomile Eye Makeup Remover for less.

How they differ?
In my experience almost not at all. I do find that I get less leftover mascara the next morning with The Body Shop remover but I prefer the feeling of the Bioderma all over the face.

Having gotten a chance to actually use them both side by side as far as I'm concerned they are as close to identical in both form and function as any other cleansing water based makeup remover I've tried. You could easily swap one for the other and not notice any discernible difference.

It's lovely to have the Bioderma available around these parts because I am more likely to place orders from Beautylish more often than I am from The Body Shop so the Bioderma will likely be a matter on convenience for me but, if you find yourself at The Body Shop more often the Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover might win the toss up for you.

Either way you go I don't think you can go wrong.
God don't you just love it when things work out?
