The Spring Series| Nails

It seems almost cruel to talk about Spring when as we speak New York City is being pelted with freezing rain and the threat of falling down a set of subway stairs is a damn near daily issue.

It's cool though, I'm still going to talk about it.
Especially because for the first time all winter I am actually dying for a little warm weather and sunshine.
Dying.
...but if you can't have the sunshine in your life you might as well have it on your nails.
Right?

I have been on a bit of a sparkle kick ever since Christmas time. It's like the glitter bug never dissipated. For the spring though it's going to be pastel and muted glitter for me!

I love the Black Cat Lacquer shade in "Let Them Eat Cake". It was the polish that convinced me to pop my indie cherry and I've never looked back. I tend to break out the little bottle of pastel glitter perfection every year around this time and it never disappoints. It's the only glitter I can think of that is accurately described as "subtle."

On the opposite end of the sparkle price spectrum is Deborah Lippmann. Arguably the queen of glitter she offers some of the most unique and interesting sparkly shades on the market. (That is until she is inevitably duped by the drugstore.) Mermaid's Dream is a sparkly seafoam foil with various sizes of turquoise glitter laced throughout. It is a mermaids tail in a bottle.

The final fancy shade (read: not a cream) is one of I Love Nail Polish's beautiful Ultra Chrome shades. If you have yet to delve into this line of goodies you are 100% missing out. The multitude of colors in these polishes just dance on your nails under almost any lighting. The shade pictured, Cyngus Loop, flits from purples to greens, blues, pinks and orange and looks like nothing else I've owned on the nails.

Now for a classic cream shade OPI's Koala Bear-y took up residence in my collection last year when I realized I was missing a classic mid-toned pink shade. While this is not a shade I look to a lot it's hard to argue with a tulip-y shade when they all start to emerge from the ground.

The newest addition to the lineup is Butter London's Bossy Boots. I found this sucker at Marshalls a week or so ago for a whopping 5$. I had been looking into this shade for almost a year and nearly picked it up in one of their many holiday and post holiday season sales and I'm glad I waited. It's a smooth pastel pistachio cream color and for me is a nice, slightly dressier version of the ubiquitous mint shades of the past few years.

For something decidedly different I reach for Lime Crime's Crema De Limon. It's a neon pastel yellow and easily the most unique shade in Lime Crime's conservative (in number not color) nail polish lineup. I will say...these suckers are small and they price went up by more than 50% last year so if I were you I'd hold off for a sale but the whole Lime Crime nail lineup is hard to replicate in any other brand, no color more than the yellow.

So there you have it.
The enamel that will likely be gracing my digits in the coming month.
Stay tuned for some blush and lip reccomendations over the next few weeks and in the meantime...

...pray for sun.
